The Southern Hills Athletic Conference handed out awards to the 2024 SHAC Boys Golf Coach of the Year and Player of the Year at their fall sports banquet held Sunday, Oct. 27.

Nine years apart, one high school art project has come full circle.

In a season where the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs boys soccer team regrouped and won their conference outright, they also advanced further in the postseason than the previous season, finishing their 2024 campaign as Division V SE District Runners-up on Saturday night.

On Saturday afternoon, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs became state qualifiers following their fifth-place team performance at the 2024 Division III Regional Championships at Pickerington North High School.

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs finished in first place in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference with a record of 5-0-1.

For the sixth consecutive season, and for 11 of the past 12 years, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs hoisted a district championship trophy, and in 2024 it came via a 3-0 win over the Fairfield Lady Lions at Waverly High School on Thursday evening.

For the past five games, it hasn’t been easy to score a goal on the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs boys soccer team. In fact, nobody has achieved that feat whatsoever, as the fifth game in this stretch saw the Mustangs defeat the No. 6 seeded Valley Indians 2-0 in their Division V SE District Semifinal game at Zane Trace High School, Wednesday.

Once again, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs are going to play for a district championship.

Will McConnaughey and Ava Doughman were chosen to represent Lynchburg-Clay Local School District Tuesday at the STEEL Conference held at the Southern State Community College Patriot Center.
