Jackson Township man arrested after chemicals and marijuana found; two others arrested on outstanding warrants

Rhoads was placed into custody and charged with Illegal Assembly of Chemicals used to Manufacture Methamphetamine. Lovely and Boles were taken into custody on their respective outstanding warrants. All three were transported to the Highland County Justice Center.

Blaine pleads guilty to theft, forgery charges WATCH THE VIDEO

Former Greenfield pastor Jim Blaine pleaded guilty to counts of forgery and aggravated theft from the Good Shepherd Church in Greenfield Wednesday in Highland County Common Pleas Court. The state of Ohio has recommended he be sentenced to three years in prison and that he make full restitution, which was estimated that it could be between $200,000 and $250,000.

Ohio Department of Development official resigns over outsourcing

According to reports, Nadeane Howard, director of the department's energy resources division, resigned Tuesday, amid an investigation into federal stimulus money that went to an overseas call center. She had served in the position since December.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wilmington Post, is currently investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash that occurred in Clinton County on state route 350 at Farmers Road in Washington Township.

Committee waits to recommend 10-percent cut to GF

The finance committee of the Hillsboro City Council did not present a recommendation to cut 10 percent from the city's general fund to a full council Monday night because, according to committee members, work is still needed on the legislation.

City employee questions auditor on budget numbers WATCH THE VIDEO

A city employee said she was just asking the Hillsboro auditor for answers when she alleged there were "$600,000 unaccounted for" in budget figures, while he said she was trying to play a game of "gotcha" during a tax budget hearing held Monday, prior to the start of the Hillsboro City Council meeting.

A report in the Dayton Daily News this week alleges Brown Publishing inflated some of its circulation numbers before filing for bankruptcy earlier this year. The Aug. 7 DDN report says Brown overstated "the numbers to advertisers by as much as 18 percent, according to an internal document obtained by the Dayton Daily News and Springfield News-Sun.

HCSO receives grant from attorney general to combat meth

As the production of methamphetamine continues to favor the mobility of smaller-scale labs, rather than larger, home-based operations, the ability to track and police the use of this dangerous drug has become increasingly difficult. Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray, Clermont County Sheriff A.J. Rodenberg and Highland County Sheriff Ronald Ward unveiled, this week, a new initiative that will help to keep meth off the streets.
