LPD says drug charges could result from traffic stop

A Hillsboro man could face charges following a traffic stop in which the Lynchburg Police Department found what is believed to be bags of meth.

 

According to a news release from the LPD, on May 27 at approximately 9:39 p.m., Sgt. Dustin Malone of the LPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 500 block of Short Street in the village. The vehicle was being operated by a Hillsboro resident. During the stop, Malone conducted a vehicle walk-around with his canine and received a positive alert. 

 

After further investigation Sgt. Malone recovered two baggies containing a white powder. Preliminary tests indicated that the substance was methamphetamine, according to the LPD.

 

Malone said that no charges were filed against the driver, and he was released.

 

The evidence will be forwarded to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation for an official analysis. The vehicle that Williams had been operating along with a sufficient amount of cash were also seized and are subject to forfeiture. 

 

Once the results from BCI&I have been received the information will be forwarded to the Highland County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented before the a grand jury in Highland County Common Pleas Court.
