One injured in crash in ODOT work zone

A multi-vehicle crash occurred in an Ohio Department of Transportation work zone on state Route 124 Wednesday morning, although no ODOT workers or vehicles were involved. One person was transported to Highland District Hospital. 

 

The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said that one person was treated for minor injuries and later released from HDH. 

 

The Post is not releasing the names of the people involved in the crash, as the investigation is still pending. However, a citation of failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead is anticipated. 

 

According to Kathleen Fuller, Public Information Officer for ODOT District 9, an ODOT crew had been working in the area on state Route 124 near North Shore Drive in front of the Highland County Animal Shelter. 

 

"The crash was in our work zone, but we were not involved in the accident," Fuller said. 

 

The ODOT crew had been doing berming and clearing and cutting in the area, Fuller said.
