VFW hosts flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day

The public is invited to attend the fourth annual flag retirement ceremony. The Highland County Veterans Honor Guard and the Waw wil a way DAR/CAR/JAC will hold a flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day Tuesday, June 14.  

This year it will be hosted by VFW Post 9094. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and the flag retirement ceremony will begin at 6:30. The program will feature individuals paying tribute to Flag Day.  

Hillsboro Mayor Dick Zink will present a proclamation proclaiming June 14, 2011 as Flag Day.

This is a good time to replace a worn flag. Any flags no longer serviceable may be dropped off at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center, or the Community Market prior to June 14. A used flag box is available year round at both the VFW Post 9094 or the Amvets Post 61 at Rocky Fork Lake on North Shore Drive.[[In-content Ad]]
