Last Friday, I was asked to take part in the 18th annual SATH Celebrity Golf Classic, and I was told to bring a friend and take the day off.

As the 1974 SCOL football season got under way, the Hillsboro Indians figured to be a stronger force in the league race. They would have highly touted junior quarterback Bud Marsh back for his second year and new transfer Tyler Wood as a capable backup.

By the end of last week, farmers had experienced an approximately 10-day run of favorable weather that has allowed them to make a great deal of progress towards completing spring field work. The corn percentage planted thus far is well ahead of schedule and I’m also aware of a few acres of soybeans planted in the area. Let’s hope the weather in the coming weeks allows farmers to take full advantage of this early planting window.

A pretrial was held April 30 in Highland County Common Pleas Court for a Greenfield man charged with murder.
 Kermit E Gipson, 22, was indicted in March on murder, an unclassified felony with a firearm specification; and tampering with evidence, a felony of the third degree.

On Friday, May 7, from 11:30 a.m.-noon, the children at Wee Care Christian Preschool will pay tribute to their moms with a Mother’s Day program.

In 1956, a unique camping program for young people was created by Dave and Janny Brizius. Originally an outreach of the Gahanna Community Church, the program, greatly expanded and no longer affiliated with one particular church, and now called C.A.M.P., is ongoing, with the Briziuses still heading it. The new name stands for Constructing Assured and Motivated People.
