Turner moves legislation recognizing Clinton County's bicentennial

WASHINGTON, D.C. -  Congressman Mike Turner announced that the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has unanimously  approved a resolution congratulating Clinton County and the county seat of Wilmington, Ohio on the occasion of their bicentennial anniversary.

How heavy is an electron? Students in Dr. Russell W. Kincaid’s physics courses at Southern State Community College can now answer that question with authority by using the department’s newly acquired Electron Mass Apparatus.
Ohio jobless rate dips to 10.9 percent
Ohio's unemployment rate was 10.9 percent in April, down slightly from 11.0 percent in March, according to data released this morning by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Ohio’s nonfarm wage and salary employment increased 37,300 over the month, from the revised 5,004,800 in March to 5,042,100 in April.
Big Brothers Big Sisters awarded grant from Fifth Third Bank
Fifth Third Bank celebrated its namesake – May 3, otherwise known as 5/3 – by beginning the Community Involvement Grant program, in which employees nominate organizations throughout the region to receive grants worth $530. Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Ohio was one of those grant recipients.

The Fairfield Lady Lions had its tournament run come to an end Thursday evening in a Division IV SE District semifinal game at Minford High School, to the Eastern Meigs Lady Eagles by a score of 10-0.

SSCC Lady Pats conclude outstanding softball season
The Southern State Lady Patriots' fast-pitch softball season recently concluded with an appearance in the postseason tournament. The Lady Patriots' regular season record was 12-4 with tournament play at 1-5. They qualified for the USCAA National Tournament, held the second weekend in May in Akron.

    Right after the 1974 Christmas break, Washington downed county rival Miami Trace, 63-53, with Byrd scoring 26 points. Allan Conner returned to the lineup for MT, running the offense effectively and scoring eight points.
