SSCC Lady Pats conclude outstanding softball season

The Southern State Lady Patriots' fast-pitch softball season recently concluded with an appearance in the postseason tournament.
The Lady Patriots' regular season record was 12-4 with tournament play at 1-5.
They qualified for the USCAA National Tournament, held the second weekend in May in Akron.
The keynote speaker for the event was Crystl Bustos, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and current field manager at Firestone Stadium in Akron where the USCAA National Tournament was held.
SSCC All-Americans included: Shelby Kelley, Ryann Morse and Kristi Beasley.
The SSCC softball team, coached by Katie Moberly, went up against three very competitive teams, and they played hard, unfortunately with a run of errors which cost them their first game. For their second game, they were playing in nasty weather conditions; with SSCC ahead, 3-2, the officials called a rain delay with the remaining final inning to be played the next day. Unfortunately, this allowed the other team to regroup and Southern State ended up losing that game as well. In the final game, the ladies rebounded with some enthusiasm, but not enough to recover for a win – ending in 8th place.
SSCC hosted the Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament with three other teams. SSCC opened the first game with a win against Ohio Christian. In their second game, the ladies lost to Clark State. The next game featured SSCC against UC Clermont in the first round on Saturday morning. Southern State finished third, with Clark State in first and UC Clermont in second.
SSCC says farewell to several sophomores this year: Kristi Beasley, Gabby Holden, Taylor Jodrey, Katie Myers, Jacklyn Siegel and Cara Vergamini.
