CHILLICOTHE - Preliminary operations are under way for a second American Recovery and Reinvestment Act transportation project in Adams County, as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation prepare to resurface a portion of County Road 70 near West Union.
An aggressive pit bull has been surrendered to the Highland County Dog Warden after a Hillsboro man allegedly discharged a firearm at the animal after he felt it was threatening him and a young mother with a child, according to police.
Thanks to grant funds from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention, youth and adult volunteers from Highland County participated in a county-wide Litter Pickup campaign during the months of March, April and May. Grant funds provided the supplies and equipment needed for the litter pickups, and the volunteers provided the labor.
The Hillsboro Police Department is currently investigating the vandalism of at least 20 grave markers at the Hillsboro Cemetery after the monuments were kicked over some time over the weekend.
