Washington provided the opposition for the McClain Homecoming game Oct. 12. In an exceptionally impressive ceremony, attractive MHS senior Miss Brenda Sparger was crowned prior to the game, along with her court, which included Queen’s Attendant Cindy West, Senior Attendant Leann McNeil, Junior Attendant Florence Cannon, Sophomore Attendant Jill McNeil and Freshman Attendant Jenny Schneider. To make the evening a complete success, the Tigers displayed a tremendous defensive effort and  shut out Washington, before a huge Homecoming crowd, 7-0.

     I never had the opportunity to meet Rhett W. Stark. But seeing the way people celebrated and honored his life Monday at Mitchell Park in Greenfield spoke to me.

An upset brewed Wednesday at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe as Eastern Michigan, a No. 7 seed, defeated the No. 2 seeded Kent State Golden Flashes 12-4 in the third game of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.

The No. 6 seeded Miami Redhawks couldn't catch a break and everything went the way of the the Toledo Rockets Wednesday in game two of the Mid-American Conference baseball tournament. The Rockets pounded out 15 hits and played excellent defense to gain a 7-1 victory, moving on in the winners bracket of the MAC tourney.
