The Fairfield Athletic Department is pleased to announce a new program to recognize our athletes for outstanding achievements both on and off the field.
Each week, starting with Sept. 13-17, FHS will be naming a male and female “Lion Athlete of the Week”.
These athletes are nominated by their coaches and then selected by the Athletic Department based upon their performances either on the field, in the classroom or in the community. T
The female athlete of the week is sponsored by Katie’s Confections, and the male athlete of the week is sponsored by Leesburg Federal Savings Bank.
The girls athlete of the week is Whitney Hanenkrat (volleyball). The boys athlete of the week is Tyler Campbell.
Whitney is a junior on the Lady Lion varsity volleyball team. She garnered 9 points, 7 attacks, 7 kills, 1 block (with 2 block assists) and 4 digs in a league win against Eastern Brown on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
Tyler is a senior player for the Lion golf team. On Tuesday, Sept. 14 at the first round of the SHL tournament at Buckeye Hills, Tyler fired a 38 on nine holes to lead the Lion golf team to a second place finish on the day.
On Thursday, Sept. 16 at the second round of the SHL tournament at Hilltop Golf Course in Manchester, Tyler fired a 39 on nine holes to again help lead his team to a second place finish on the day.
On Saturday, Sept. 18 Tyler fired an 89 to help his team to a third place finish in the Blue and White Invitational held at Washington Country Club.[[In-content Ad]]
