The Baseball Writers Association of America have selected Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto as the National League's Most Valuable Player in 2010. Votto received 31 of the 32 first-place votes cast by the writers to outdistance St. Louis' Albert Pujols (279 votes) and Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez (240 votes).

Coach Sam Snyder, now in his second year at Hillsboro, had three big men underneath who could conceivably dominate the league: 6’5” Robbie Jackson, 6’3” Tony Cumberland and 6’2” Mark Cumberland would present some major problems for SCOL coaches. And Brian Price, Will Gregory, Mark Snyder and David Hilliard gave the Indians an outside threat and good ball-handling and passing skills, as well.

We are one week away from the start of the 2010-11 girls high school basketball season. Last season, we had one team make it to the Convo at Ohio University, and we had some good regular season play from all the other teams.
