Matracia lifts MHS to first win of season

For the entire season, the McClain Tigers have been close, but not close enough to gain their first win of the season. That was until Thursday at Hillsboro High School, when they fended off a hard-charging Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs team as Zach Matracia put MHS ahead for good, gaining their first win of the year, 41-39.

Fairfield struggles in second half in loss to Washington

After a close first half where the Fairfield Lions and the Washington Blue Lions played to a two-point difference, it was the Blue Lions who dominated the final two quarters, giving the South Central Ohio League the first win of the SCOL-SHL Challenge, 58-40 Thursday, at Hillsboro High School.

The Lady Tigers of McClain outscored the Adena Lady Warriors by two points in the final quarter to seal their sixth win of the season, 35-32 at Adena High School, Thursday.

NCAA suspends six Ohio State football players for five games in 2011

Five football student-athletes, including quarterback Terrelle Pryor, from The Ohio State University must sit out the first five games of the 2011 season for selling awards, gifts and university apparel and receiving improper benefits in 2009, the NCAA has determined.
