    On Monday night at Washington Senior High School, the McClain Lady Tigers shot their way to another South Central Ohio League win. Shooting 79-percent from the field, MHS, behind three players who scored in double figures, defeated the Washington Lady Blue Lions 54-35 for the season sweep.

    Behind another 20-plus point output by Joe Michael, along with double-figure scoring from Doc Seip and Gage Carraher, the Whiteoak Wildcats gained a Southern Hills League win over the Manchester Greyhounds, 57-43.

    Friday night, in Leesburg, there were two victories to be had. The most important win will be saved for last. First, there was a basketball game to be played, and in that game the host Fairfield Lions came away victorious against their cross-county visitors, Lynchburg-Clay, 69-63.

    For the first time this season, the McClain Tigers are winners in the South Central Ohio League. The improving Tigers, who now have won two straight varsity games, dominated the fourth frame Friday night en route to a 46-44 win at MPHS.

    Fairfield Lady Lions head coach Matt Hodson said his team played their best all-around game Thursday night against the Peebles Lady Indians. Though the improving Lady Lions played their best game of the year, PHS defended their home court with a 59-38 win over FHS.
