WASHINGTON C.H. — After a week of not having any matches on the schedule due to the Highland County Fair, the McClain Tigers' boys soccer team continued to stay at the top of the South Central Ohio League standings with a 4-2 win Thursday night against the Washington Blue Lions, at Gardner Park.
McClain and the Blue Lions were tied 1-1 at halftime when Nick Rivas was first to score in the match for the Tigers.
"We started off flat again, but we played well overall," MHS coach Shawn Jackson said. "We took over in the second half, but I would really like to see us get started off better in the first half … but the kids played well."
MHS outscored the Blue Lions 3-1 in the second half with another goal from Nick Rivas, along with a goal from Luis Rivas and two goals from Jarred White.
Assists were credited to Luis Rivas and Sam Henry.
MHS keeper Ryan Case had four saves.
The win puts MHS at 5-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the SCOL.
McClain will play again on Tuesday, at home, when they host the Clinton-Massie Falcons at 5 p.m. at McClain Field in Greenfield. The match will count in the league standings.
