    There will be clothing construction help sessions for 4-H members on Wednesday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and Wednesday, July 7, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. in the basement meeting room of the Highland County Administration Building.

  • SATH Car and Bike Show benefit to be held at Festival of the Bells July 3
    The Festival of the Bells is proud to announce its Annual Car and Bike Show on Saturday, July 3, 2010. The car and bike show will be held in the old Hillsboro High School parking lot next to the Scott House. All proceeds will benefit SATH (Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped).

    On Wednesday, June 23 at 7 p.m., SATH's KAMP Dovetail Space Camp will host its 3rd Annual Carnival and "Out of This World" Auction at Rocky Fork State Park campground. The auction is open to the public, and all are invited to attend.

  • Magic Waters presents murder mystery
    It's time for Magic Waters Theatre's murder mystery, "Sherlock Holmes' American Cousin in the Adventure of the Walking Corpse." The play opens Friday, June 18, with subsequent performances on June 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, and July 9, 10, and 11.
  • Elder Abuse Awareness Day is June 15
    The Senate Special Committee on Aging estimates that there may be as many as 5 million elder abuse victims each year in the United States. And while this number is quite staggering, only around 16 percent of these abusive situations are referred for help. Recently, the Ohio Senate passed a Senate Bill designating June 15 as Elder Abuse Awareness Day statewide. The Area Agency on Aging District 7, which covers 10 counties in Ohio, including Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton, encourages the community to be aware and educated about elder abuse. If you or someone you know is the victim of abuse, it is important to report it to the appropriate authorities.

  • Lynchburg Lions Club hosts GOOD program
    The Lynchburg Lions Club recently hosted a special program for all fifth graders at the Lynchburg-Clay Elementary School. Mr. Ron Derry from the Columbus area presented an excellent motivational program. Mr. Derry, who is blind, conducted a general assembly program for all of the students and then spent 30 minutes in each of the five fifth-grade classrooms. During that time, he had the students work with special calculators, which he taught them to use without sight.
