The Farm Service Agency (FSA) is looking for candidates for the FSA County Committee election to be held this November, according to Jim Patton, director of the Highland County FSA Office.

Highland County commissioners appointed of Anneka Collins to the South Central Ohio Regional Juvenile Detention Center Board of Trustees to replace Rodger Marsh, whose term expires in May 2011.

The Greenfield City Council considered contracts for City Manager Betty Bishop during the regular council session July 6.
 Council heard the first reading of a resolution authorizing the council chairwoman, Betty Jackman, to extend an employment agreement with Bishop, and a resolution to extend Bishop's interim city manager position.

The third and final day of the Festival of the Bells celebration brought together community accomplishment and country music, with a performance by Jason Michael Carroll, and the honoring of an area hall of fame inductee.

"Thank you for inviting us to your party tonight," Carroll told the crowd of thousands. "We love coming out here hanging out here with a bunch of folks who love to listen to country music like your folks do. You know what? Y'all got the same attitude we got up in on this stage. You know what kind of attitude that is, Ohio? I can sleep when I'm dead, how 'bout you all?"

Carroll then launched into his hit "I Can Sleep When I'm Dead," bringing concert-goers to their feet as they cheered and sang along. 

WILMINGTON — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is investigating the drowning of a 4-year-old girl at Cowan Lake State Park Friday, the department said.
