Hillsboro salon introduces its all-new 'Cutting Crew'

Recently adding the talents of several young women to her impressive staff, owner Beverly Durst is pleased to introduce what she and her coworkers are calling an "all-new Cutting Crew" to her salon on East Main Street in Hillsboro.
Elisha Wisecup, a graduate of the Regency Beauty Institute in Eastgate, recently joined the Cutting Crew as a stylist. Wisecup has been doing hair for three years and considers color her specialty. She is also available to perform manicures and pedicures. Wisecup is
available by appointment and through walk-ins Monday through Saturday except Wednesdays.
Andrea Davidson has also joined the staff as a stylist and as a nail technician. Davidson graduated from the Eastern Hills Academy of Hair Design in Cincinnati and has been styling hair for three years. She is available Monday through Saturday except for Thursdays.
Jessica Morris joins fellow massage therapist Cynthia Shaw as a full-time massage therapist for the salon. Morris, who graduated from the Cincinnati School of Medical Massage, has been practicing massage therapy for almost two years and is certified in medical relaxation and aromatherapy. Morris is featuring a special throughout the year: customers who buy three massages receive a massage for an equal time
length for free. She offers half-hour and one-hour massages. Morris is available for appointments and walk-ins Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., with additional times by appointment only. Morris said she also offers free five-minute chair massages to customers who are waiting, even if they are just coming in for a haircut, to help them relax and to introduce them to her massage therapy.
Active in the community, Morris has volunteered at the YMCA and the Leesburg Library, teaching benefits and techniques of massage and performing chair massages. She also donated a free chair massage as a prize for the popular Leesburg Library summer reading program for adults. Morris said that she enjoys working with people in the community because her massage courses help to dispel myths about massage.
"I want people to know that massage is more of a medical thing, not just a relaxation technique," said Morris. "Teaching people the health benefits of massage is one of main focuses."
The new staff members join owner and stylist Durst as well as massage therapist Shaw, who has worked at the Cutting Crew for five years, and stylist Jessica Roth Clark, who has been there for a year and a half.
"I'm really delighted with these young ladies," said Durst.
The Cutting Crew offers a variety of special attractions, including reasonable prices, gift certificates, and a walk-in friendly atmosphere. The salon also offers wedding package deals, including hairstyles, manicures, pedicures, and massages. Wisecup was her school's salon fair winner for updos, and Davidson and Clark also enjoy doing formal hairstyles. Brides-to-be are invited to call the salon for further details.
Durst said that the salon also reaches out to the community by providing free back-to-school and Christmas hair cuts for local foster children. The Cutting Crew plans to hold their back-to-school haircuts at the Church of Christ later this summer.
The stylists and massage therapists of The Cutting Crew attend continuing education classes to keep up-to-date on the latest hairstyles and to learn about the latest product lines. Stylists have recently attended Paul Mitchell, Chi, and Aquage classes, and Morris
said that she is hoping to attend seminars, including a deep neuromuscular massage class, to get additional certification.
New clients and walk-ins are always welcome. The stylists and massage therapists at the Cutting Crew are happy to serve men, women, and children and feature a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
The Cutting Crew sells and uses a variety of hair products, including merchandise from the Matrix, Paul Mitchell, Big Sexy Hair, and Redken lines, and Morris uses Biotemp products.
In addition to the full-service salon, Durst features a boutique in her salon to feature Highland County products. Durst currently sells Amish baskets and a variety of products made by local leatherworker Ben Lander.
"I'm always looking for more Highland County vendors," said Durst.
The new stylists at the Cutting Crew said that they are hoping to bring not only new faces and talents to the salon, but a whole new look. They have been working hard to repaint the walls and rearrange furniture to "freshen up the look" of the salon.
"We have a really relaxing, welcoming atmosphere," said Durst.
Durst, who has owned the Cutting Crew salon for almost 18 years, has been at her location at 317 E. Main St. for 15 years. Her co-workers, who call her the "mom" of the salon, say that the business's longevity is a testimony to Durst's hard work, and Durst said that she is pleased with the Cutting Crew's success.
"We're a good all-around salon," said Durst.
