The state class AA rankings were published Tuesday, Jan. 7. For the first time in many years, two SCOL teams were ranked among the top 20 high school teams in Ohio. The McClain Tigers were ranked fourth, and Washington’s Blue Lions were ranked 16th. The No. 4 ranking was the all-time best for McClain to that point in school history.

Hillsboro's 2011 Tournament of Champions at Shaffer Park will begin Saturday, July 23. All age brackets will participate in a double-elimination tournament.

The annual Highland County boys basketball shootout will be this Saturday, June 25 at Fairfield High School, starting at 9 a.m.

Hillsboro Post 129 held two games at their home field at Shaffer Park on Saturday in their finale of the annual Wooden Bat Tournament, but they finished the day with no wins and no runs, falling to Circleville Post 134, 9-0 and the Chillicothe Capitals, 5-0.

Before their wooden bat tournament, Post 129 played in three road games, starting with losses to Portsmouth Post 23, 6-4 and 5-1 in a doubleheader. In the final leg of their road trip before their wooden bat tournament, Hillsboro Post 129 gained their fifth win of the season, defeating Madison County Post 105, 4-3

In the nightcap of the annual Hillsboro Wooden Bat Tournament at Shaffer Park, host team Post 129 rallied back from a four-run deficit, took the lead, but in the end couldn't hold on in the late innings, falling to Madison County Post 105, 12-8 Friday night.
