Lady Indians golf advances to districts

ASHVILLE — The Hillsboro Lady Indians golf team are headed to the district tournament.

HHS finished third in the two-day sectional tournament (due to rain on Monday) to advance to the district tournament. The top three teams in the event advanced to districts. Joining HHS are Logan Elm in first with 360 strokes, followed by second-place Westfall at 372. HHS was third with 404 strokes.

The event, held at Upper Landsowne in Ashville had 13 teams entered.

The South Central Ohio League champion McClain Lady Tigers finished in fourth place at 416.

Individual scores for HHS included: Carey Juillerat 95, Haylee Wehrung 98, Arden Knauff 99, Jordan Elmore 112 and Haleigh Lovett 113.

"The last few days have been rough for my girls. Last Saturday's SCOL tournament, along with the rough conditions on Monday, were hard on them," HHS coach Sue Hunter said. "I wasn't sure how much they had left for (Wednesday's) round, but they rallied and turned in good scores.   

"We are so excited to be moving on to districts, and I am very proud of the girls. This is a great bunch of girls. They keep having fun. They are dedicated and enthusiastic, which makes my job very enjoyable."[[In-content Ad]]
