Adams County’s Underground Railroad story continues to come into sharper focus this spring. On Saturday, April 18, two additional sites – the Wickerham Inn and the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of West Union – will be formally added to the National Park Service’s National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom, with public marker dedication ceremonies held at both locations.

She loved them, and yellow was her favorite color. Every spring she would decorate her wide brimmed straw hat with newly cut daffodils. She'd carefully sew them on so the thread was hidden.

William Manker was born Jan. 7, 1765 in Maryland about 30 miles from Baltimore. He was drafted for the Virginia militia in October 1781 while living in Berkley County, Va.

You want your way. And that is normal. But getting others to want to do what you are asking? Sometimes that’s just not very easy. Forcing them usually doesn’t make you a winner. 

With the Reds playing good baseball currently, having a son who already loves to hit off the tee at 1 year old, and being grateful for everything God has blessed me with in life – it just felt right to discuss the importance of baseball.
