Wednesday was a battle for the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Division II championship, as it was Fayetteville outlasting the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats, 58-45 to win the title.
The final seconds for the Whiteoak Wildcats were pressure-packed on Friday night, but once the final buzzer sounded, it was a long-range 3-pointer by Brady Brandenburg that lifted the Wildcats to a 48-45 win over the Fayetteville Rockets.
Dating back to last season, the Fayetteville Lady Rockets had won nine consecutive Southern Hills Athletic Conference games, including starting the season with eight consecutive conference wins and a 13-0 overall record.
Playing Saturday afternoon at the Coach Young Classic, the Whiteoak Wildcats used a 15-point fourth quarter to defeat the Wellston Rockets, 51-48 at North Adams High School.
Trailing going into the fourth quarter, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats outscored the Fairfield Lady Lions 19-11 in the final eight minutes to earn the Southern Hills Athletic Conference win, 53-47 at WHS.
