The McClain Tigers finally got away from their South Central Ohio League schedule for one night. Playing in a non-league game for the first time since the first two games of the season, the Tigers went on a tear Thursday night, defeating the Adena Warriors, 10-1 at Adena High School.

    The injury to Miami Trace’s all-league player Scott Grooms’ knee turned out to be strained tendons, and he would be out of action for at least a month. The Panthers did not have a great deal of depth, and this would be a major blow to their chances of winning the league title.

The Southern State Community College men’s soccer team traveled Sept. 17 to Grand Rapids, Mich., and defeated Kuyper College 3-0. The game — the first-ever meeting between Southern State and Kuyper — was played on the new turf field in Davenport University’s new soccer stadium.

White Oak Golf Course will host a 4-person, best ball golf scramble Oct. 3 for the Sardinia Founder’s Day Committee.

The Patriots put together a total team effort, earning the shutout while placing six different players in the scoring column. The win moves the Patriots into sole possession of first place in the conference.
