Buck scores 23 in UMass-Boston win

BOSTON, MA — McClain graduate Shelby Buck continues to impress for UMass-Boston, scoring a career high 23 points in a 66-58 win over Fitchburg State, Tuesday night.

Buck's 23 points was a follow up to her 13-point performance in a 52-43 loss to Rutgers-Newark (N.Y.) last weekend. In her first two games the McClain grad had scoring effoerts of 8 and 9 points each.

Four games into her collegiate career Buck, a freshman, has scored 53 points, for an average of 13.2 points per game.

Against Fitchburg State (Tuesday), Buck was 7-of-11 from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range. From the free-throw line Buck was 3-of-4, with two offensive rebounds and two assists in 40 minutes on the court.

Buck was the lone UMass player to reach the 40 minute mark of playing time.

As a team UMass was 21-of-56 from the field (10-of-25 from 3-point range) and 14-of-27 from the free-throw line. UMass had 16 offensive rebounds, 37 total vs. Fitchburg State.

The Beacons are 3-1 overall, 2-0 on the road. They will play again Sunday, Nov. 28 in Henniker, NH facing New England College at 1 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
