The Lady Mambas, coached by Derrik Haithcock Sr., finished last weekend with a 4-0 record and a first-place championship at Bales Arena in Beavercreek.

The McClain Tigers and Fairfield Lions opened their 2025 baseball seasons on Saturday, where the Tigers came away with a convincing 19-3 win over the host Fairfield Lions.

On Saturday, Fairfield High School was the home of a tri-doubleheader on the softball diamond, and for the two games played by the host Lady Lions, they left the field with two wins, defeating Portsmouth Clay 3-2, followed with another 3-2 win, this time defeating Waverly.

The top 50 Major League Fishing anglers from 2024 – including the top 40 pros from the Bass Pro Tour – will be competing this week, April 3-6, at Lake Guntersville in Huntsville, Ala. for a top prize of $300,000 and to crown professional bass fishing’s newest world champion.

The 2025 Divisions IV, V, VI and VII boys basketball All-Ohio teams were announced Wednesday by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association. The All-Ohio teams are based on nominations from the seven districts of the OPSMA, which vote on the all-district teams from regular-season accomplishments.

The Southern Hills Athletic Conference honored the 2024-25 Boys Bowlers of the Year at the winter sports banquet.

Before attending the weekend series against the Giants, I was kindly invited to report on the Pure Life Project, as they celebrated World Water Day at the Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati on Wednesday. Elly De La Cruz joined and volunteered, while surprising the Holy Cross baseball team who was also in attendance.  

The season opener for the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs for 2025 was Saturday, where they hosted the Clinton-Massie Falcons. LCHS split the doubleheader against the Falcons, where they won game one by a 10-0 score, followed by a 14-11 loss in the second game.

The 2025 season started for the Whiteoak Wildcats baseball team on the road Saturday (March 29), where they lost both games of a doubleheader by scores of 11-0 and 8-6.

Saturday saw the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs split a tri-doubleheader, as they lost to the Miami Trace Lady Panthers and defeated the South Webster Lady Jeeps at LCHS.

Hosting the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans on Thursday (March 27), the Hillsboro Lady Indians lost their first game of the season, falling to the visitors 4-2 in their early season non-conference showdown.

Saturday (March 29) was the 2025 season opener for the Hillsboro Indians, as the home team HHS squad lost to the visiting Western Brown 8-3 in the non-conference contest.

On Thursday (March 27), the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost a non-conference road game to the host Williamsburg Lady Wildcats by a 9-3 score.
