Governor Ted Strickland has declared February 2010 as “Financial Aid Awareness” month in conjunction with the Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric Fingerhut’s endorsement of the annual College Goal Sunday event in Ohio.

Heartland of Hillsboro, Kroger, NCB, Hillsboro Ponderosa Steak House, Wilkin-Wilkin Insurance, Terri Frazer State Farm Insurance, Buckeye Country 105.5 FM, and The Highland County Press are sponsoring the sixth annual chili supper and dessert auction Thursday, March 4 from 5-7 p.m. at the Old Ponderosa Banquet Center on South High Street in Hillsboro. All proceeds go to the Highland County Society for Children and Adults.

As the last big wave of this week's winter storm passes through the region and road conditions improve significantly, Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 crews continue their efforts to clear the state highway system and maintain routes.
