The Hillsboro City Council considered a lease agreement proposed by Hillsboro Safety and Service Director Ralph Holt for a structure for storage of police department property during their regular session May 10. After council stalled in making a decision, Holt said that he would lease the building on a month-to-month basis.

Charles A. Guarino,Ed.D., superintendent of Southern Hills Joint Vocational School District of Brown and Southern Highland counties, announced his retirement to the Board of Education at the April board meeting, effective Dec. 31.

Commissioners said this week they are inclined to recommend a resolution to the staffing dilemma at the Highland County Clerk of Courts office that does not include adding another county employee. As first reported at www.highlandcountypress.com, Court of Appeals Judge Roger Kline spoke out on behalf of Highland County Clerk of Courts Paulette Donley at the April 28 meeting of the Highland County Board of Commissioners.

This Sunday, May 9 marks the opening of the Chapel in the Woods at Rocky Fork Lake, a summer worship ministry of Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. Services traditionally begin on Mother's Day and continue through Labor Day weekend. The nondenominational services begin at 8 a.m., weather permitting.
