The 2012 boys and girls high school golf season got under way in a wild day of weather in the annual McClain Invitational at Buckeye Hills Golf Course. Being the first time the event was held with boys and girls golf on the same day, players overcame hard pouring rain followed by a slight drizzle, along with gusts of wind and even some sunshine as the Miami Trace boys and Westfall girls were the winners of Friday's season-opening event.

Kiley Sosby of Whiteoak High School has recently been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South (QDSS) at Winthrop University Aug. 24 and 25.

Hillsboro High School will be hosting the 2012 Boys Basketball Highland County Shootout on Saturday, June 30 in both the high school and middle school gyms.

The 2012 Highland County Girls Basketball Shootout will be held on Saturday, June 16 starting at 9 a.m. at Hillsboro High School.

The 2012 SE All-District teams has been announced by the coaches of the SE District as Highland County had a total of 11 softball players selected and 12 players selected for baseball.
