Lady 'Cats shutout by Fayetteville

MOWRYSTOWN — The game belonged to the Fayetteville Lady Rockets from the third inning on, as they defeated host Whiteoak, 11-0 in seven innings Tuesday.
Whiteoak (5-13) was held to four hits in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference matchup, two for extra bases when Ashleigh Harless hit a double in the second. Kiley Sosby equaled the double in the third, as she eventually reached third on a sacrifice bunt from Morgan Miller.
The singles were off the bats of Mikayla Burns in the first and Caitlyn Arledge in the fifth with two outs.
[[In-content Ad]]Sosby was the losing pitcher as she struck out nine in seven innings. The sophomore allowed two earned runs as the Lady 'Cat defense committed five errors. Sosby gave up eight hits, two for extra bases.
As for Fayetteville, they scored six runs in the third (all unearned) as WHS committed three consecutive errors, followed with two runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh.
Allen, Wolf, Hammons and Moore each scored two runs for the visiting Lady Rockets, while Carson, Boothy and Cofrancesca each had one run.
WHS will play again on Thursday, May 2 as they travel to face Lynchburg-Clay at 5 p.m.
