MOWRYSTOWN — Thus far in 2013, the Whiteoak Wildcats have been unbeatable in Southern Hills Athletic Conference play. That trend continued Tuesday as their bats hit everything they swung at, winning via the run-rule and defeating rival Fairfield, 11-1.

In SHAC play this year, the Wildcats are now 9-0 with the win on their home field versus the visiting Lions, as WHS swept the regular-season series against their Highland County counterpart. Overall, the Wildcats move to 12-5.

"We swung the bats well, ran the bases well and anticipated pitches," WHS head coach Chris Veidt said. "This was the best and most aggressive we've run the bases all year, and we did it against a quality Fairfield team.

"Whenever we play Fairfield, I'm never comfortable. They are battlers, and they (FHS) will not quit."

Fairfield falls to 6-10 overall and 2-5 in the SHAC.

The game Tuesday saw WHS score at will early on, with seven of their 11 runs after the first two innings, including a four-run first inning where their first four batters (all seniors) of the game eventually scored a run in the inning.

Luke Taggert began the Wildcats' first with a lead-off single, followed by a stolen base. The WHS lead-off hitter scored from second base on an RBI single off the bat of Zach Docter.

Docter stole second and scored on a single to left-centerfield by Gage Carraher. Jesse Bradds sent Carraher to third base on a single, and Carraher scored on a double by Williams, sending the ball through the Lions' infield for a 3-0 WHS lead with no outs.

Kyle Marler made it a four-run advantage as he grounded out to second, allowing Bradds to score from third base. WHS eventually sent nine batters to the plate in the first inning.

The score went to 7-0 at the conclusion of the second inning as Taggert, Docter and Carraher each rounded the bases for the second time.

This time, Taggert (1-for-2, two walks) walked to start the WHS half of the inning, stole second and went to third on a base hit by Docter (2-for-3, one walk, one RBI). Taggert scored on a passed ball. With Docter on second base, he stole third and scored on a base hit by Carraher.

"Luke was sharp with his pitches, and it was another quality game from him," Veidt said.

Carraher (2-for-2, one walk, three RBIs) increased the lead to 7-0 as he scored on a single by Marler with two outs on a 1-0 count.

Whiteoak's lead went to nine runs by scoring twice in the third. For the third time, Carraher crossed home plate, and Bradds scored for the second time as they were batted in with RBI singles by Marler (2-for-4, three RBIs) and Jason Jones. Both Carraher and Bradds walked to start the inning, followed by a single by Tyler Williams to load the bases.

Fairfield's lone run was scored in the top half of the fourth as Gage Montgomery scored on an error by WHS, as Isaiah Liggins took first base on a misplayed ball in the outfield.

Gaining hits in the game for FHS were Wyatt Crothers, Montgomery and Cody Bennett, who was 1-for-1 with one walk. Blake Hildebrant also drew a walk.

WHS answered the Fairfield run with two final runs, one each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Justin Emery scored the 10th WHS run as he walked to take first and took two more bases on wild pitches. Emery was batted in on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by Carraher.

Williams (2-for-3, one walk, two RBIs) scored the game's final run in the bottom of the fifth with two outs.

The loss was charged to Dylan Rohde of FHS.

The Lions split games with North Adams on Monday, as they won by a 14-10 score to finish a game that began earlier in the month. In the full game played on Monday, the Lions lost to the Green Devils by a score of 8-4.

WHS will play again on Thursday as they host North Adams at 5 p.m. in SHAC play. The game at Wilmington College vs. Peebles has been postponed.
