The McClain Lady Tigers basketball team jumped out to an early 18-5 first-quarter lead but had to hold on at the end to defeat a very athletic and scrappy Waverly squad, 61-59 in Greenfield Monday night.

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) recently announced the 40 fellows selected for the 2024-2025 Class of the Appalachian Leadership Institute (ALI), a leadership training opportunity that equips Appalachian community leaders to use economic development as a tool to drive positive change. Evans reports that on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 8:35 a.m., the Pike County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Ohio Highway Patrol Internet Watchdog Group regarding a threat of safety to one of the local county schools which had allegedly been posted over a social media app.

The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal’s Fire & Explosion Investigations Bureau continues to investigate the fire that occurred in the apartments above Perry Glass, located at 213 Market St. in Waverly. The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined; however, investigators do not suspect foul play as a factor. In addition, accidental causes cannot be ruled out.
