Hillsboro Indians lose on road to Waverly Tigers

The Hillsboro Indians boys basketball team traveled to Waverly to take on the Tigers and were unable to gain the win, as they lost to the hosts 49-35 on Tuesday evening.
Hillsboro trailed at the end of each quarter, starting with a 9-6 deficit after the first frame was finished, and after being outscored 20-8 in the second quarter, the Waverly team led 29-14 at halftime.
HHS won the third frame at 12-9 for a 38-26 score after three frames with Waverly in the top spot, and the fourth quarter saw the Tigers win the frame at 11-9 for their 14-point win over the Indians.
Hillsboro finished with a 48.5-percent shooting percentage, as they made 14 two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and they were 1-of-4 from the free-throw line. The Indians committed 13 turnovers.
The Indians were led in scoring by Jack Howland with 15 points as he made six two-point baskets and one 3-pointer. He also added four rebounds, four assists and one steal.
Hillsboro had eight points apiece from Jeven Hochstuhl and Mason Dumpert. Hochstuhl made one 3-pointer, two two-point baskets, and he was 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. Hochstuhl also had two rebounds and two steals. Dumpert totaled four two-point baskets, with four rebounds and one steal.
Scoring two points each were Brady Juillerat and Weston Kibler. Juillerat also had two rebounds and two assists. Kibler collected one steal. The Indians also had three rebounds and a steal from Tre Captain, and Dawson Barnett had three rebounds and one assist.
Hillsboro as a team had the following totals: 18 rebounds (four offensive), seven assists and six steals.
The Indians now stand at 0-3 overall this season.
Next for Hillsboro is an away Frontier Athletic Conference game on Friday, Dec. 12 against the Miami Trace Panthers (2-0) at MTHS.
