Congratulations to both the Lynchburg-Clay fourth-grade and sixth-grade Lady Mustangs as they both were the champions of the Mini-March Madness Tournament in Wilmington this past weekend. Both teams won in convincing fashion and ended the tournament undefeated at 4-0. Great seasons by both teams!

The Hillsboro fifth-grade girls basketball team won runner-up champion at the Mini-March Madness Tournament held at Wilmington College this past weekend. This coming weekend the fifth-grade tournament team will be participating in the Greenfield Tournament.

Though their upcoming Division IV SE District Semifinal game has been switched, the Lions are prepared to take on the Eastern (Reedsville) Falcons this Monday at the Ohio University Convocation Center, in Athens, with a trip to the district finals on the line.

The fourth quarter at the Convocation Center proved to be just too much for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs, as they lost their lead, and their season ended. LC, who won 15 games this season, fell to the Minford Lady Falcons, 46-39 in the Division III SE District Semifinal, Saturday.

After four league games, Wilmington’s Greg Nared and receiver Aaron Cox of Madison-Plains stood atop the passing race in the SCOL, but neither enjoyed much of a lead. Nared had racked up 760 yards through the air. He was only eight yards ahead of Jeff Shaw, of WCH, who had thrown for 752 yards. Shaw, however, continued to be the most accurate passer in the league, completing 54.5 percent of his attempts.

Due to a scheduling conflict, the Southeast District has changed the day of district tournament games to be played at the Ohio University Convocation Center in Athens.

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs have been on a mission this postseason. After ending the regular season with a convincing win, they now have won two straight tournament games this postseason. The challenge ahead of them on Saturday could possibly be their toughest yet of the Division III SE District tournament.
