What a week it has been for the Hillsboro Indians. Playing three games in a five-day span, the Indians not only increased their lead in the South Central Ohio League to where they clinched no less than a share of the league title, but gained back-to-back wins, and defeated their cross-county rival McClain Saturday night by a score of 58-41.

Friday night was all about the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs. LC hosted its 2012 homecoming, honored a new king and queen, blocked many shots, and in the end, the night was wrapped up with a 68-52 Southern Hills League win over the visiting Fairfield Lions.

A fourth-quarter rally by the McClain Tigers came up just a few points short, as the visiting Tigers fell to the Washington Blue Lions 40-38 Friday at WSHS.

The Hillsboro Indians got the job done in a big way on Friday night, gaining a valuable road and South Central Ohio League win over the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles, 67-48 at MPHS.

Plenty of all-session and single-session tickets will be available for the 2012 Ohio High School Athletic Association Boys and Girls State Basketball Tournaments, and public sales of tickets for both tournaments will begin soon through Ticketmaster or in person at The Ohio State University’s Jerome Schottenstein Center, the site of both state tournaments that take place in March.

Members of the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Competitive Balance Committee met at the OHSAA office Tuesday, January 31, and came to the consensus that they will continue to study the competitive balance issue, Commissioner Daniel B. Ross, Ph.D., said.

For the 10th time in their past 11 games, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs walked off the court as winners. Their latest win, a Southern Hills League win, came on the road at Peebles, with LC defeating the host Lady Indians 47-41, Thursday.

On Friday, Dec. 1, the Blue Lions blew away Miami Trace, 70-32, on the MT court. At Hillsboro, the Indians trailed McClain by nine points with about four minutes remaining in the contest, when Coach Stewart went to a full-court press. The press worked. The Tigers’ attack didn’t. The Indians quickly caught up, and took a 54-49 win over visiting McClain.

For the second consecutive day, the McClain Lady Tigers left a road game with a win. On Wednesday, the Lady Tigers outlasted the London Lady Red Raiders 45-39 for their 11th win of the season.

Miami Trace's defense made everything more difficult for the Hillsboro Lady Indians on Wednesday. Hillsboro was unable to keep possession of the basketball and unable to get open shots as they fell to the Lady Panthers 59-27.
