Two McClain High School legends were honored at halftime of Friday's regular-season finale as the Tigers hosted the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles.

Many were honored and celebrated Friday night at McClain High School, but once the final buzzer sounded, it was the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles leaving with the win. MP defeated the host Tigers, 49-39.

The Fairfield boys varsity and JV basketball games, along with the girls varsity basketball game vs. Manchester have been postponed for Friday, Feb. 10. Games (a tripleheader) have been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11, with JV starting at 5 p.m.

The Lynchburg-Clay boys basketball games at West Union have been postponed for Friday, Feb. 10. Rescheduled date TBA.

The Lynchburg-Clay Athletic Boosters has announced its eighth annual 300 Club Dinner will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 5:30 p.m. As in past years, all proceeds will be used to make improvements and additions to the outdoor athletic complex.

In what amounts to their final tuneup before their postseason begins, the Lady Mustangs dominated every aspect of the game against the West Union Lady Dragons for a convincing 66-22 victory.

Hillsboro grabbed their 13th consecutive win at Greenfield when they took a 56-48 win over the McClain Tigers. The Indians hit 50 percent from the field compared to McClain’s 35 percent and also won the battle of the boards by a decisive margin.

Last year, the McClain Tigers set a new school record, winning 12 matches, a huge step for the program. One of the goals going into this season was to improve on that mark, and the Tigers were able to set the new school record much higher, as they recorded three victories on the day, going 3-2 in the tournament.

If McClain senior Sammy Rooks doesn't have ice water flowing through her veins, then her concentration level is unmatchable. For the second time this season, Rooks not only led the Lady Tigers to victory in dramatic fashion, but did it at the buzzer, as the senior knocked down a pressure-packed 3-pointer, with defensive players surrounding her, to win the game. This time around it was a 35-32 victory at MHS.
