Girls Basketball Report: Hillsboro, McClain, Whiteoak earn recent wins; Lady Mustangs fall to Fayetteville

Lady Tigers take home win at Jackson
Traveling for a Frontier Athletic Conference game on Saturday, Dec. 7, the McClain Lady Tigers defeated the host Jackson Ironladies, 53-23.
In the FAC win, McClain scored 16 points in the first frame and had a nine-point second quarter. In those same two quarters, Jackson scored five points in the first and eight points in the second for a 25-13 halftime lead for the Lady Tigers.
In the second half, JHS scored five points in the third and five points in the fourth frame. For McClain in the second half, they scored 16 points in the third and 11 points in the fourth.
MHS was led by Paisley Pryor with 23 points, as she made three two-point baskets, four 3-pointers and she finished 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Larah Henson followed with 15 points by making six two-point field goals and one 3-pointer.
Lindsey Hutchinson totaled six points off two 3-pointers, and Katie Cook finished with four points after making a free throw and 3-pointer.
Brenna Wright scored three points in the win with a basket from the field and one made free throw, and rounding out the scoring was Brie Cummins with two points.
MHS totaled 11 two-point baskets, eight 3-pointers, and they were 7-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Jackson was led in scoring by Lillian Mapes and Sydney Carpenter each with seven points. JHS totaled five two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and were 10-of-18 from the free-throw line.

Lady Mustangs defeated by Fayetteville
Playing in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game on Thursday, Dec. 12, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost to the Fayetteville Lady Rockets, 49-34.
Fayetteville led 18-14 at the end of the first, and following a 14-8 second quarter, the Lady Rockets led Lynchburg-Clay, 32-22 at halftime.
After halftime, the third frame saw Fayetteville outscore LCHS, 10-3, and in the fourth the Lady Mustangs won the final frame at 9-7.
LCHS was led by Joslyn Rockey with 14 points, making two 3-pointers and four two-point baskets.
The Lady Mustangs also had scoring from Savannah Bell (six), Madison McMullen (five), Addy Carraher (five) and Lily Ferguson (four).
Fayetteville was led by Lilly Carlier with 10 points.

Lady Indians earn FAC road victory
Saturday night at Miami Trace High School saw the Hillsboro Lady Indians add to their Frontier Athletic Conference win total by defeating the host Lady Panthers, 55-37.
Hillsboro led 12-6 at the end of the first quarter, and after MTHS won the second frame at 11-10, the Lady Indians still held the lead at halftime by a 22-17 score.
HHS dominated the third frame at 14-4, and in the fourth quarter it was HHS scoring 19 points and Miami Trace scoring 16 points.
The Lady Indians’ leading scorer was Tylee Davis with 17 points, as she finished with three two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and she was 8-of-9 from the free-throw line. Davis continued her double-double streak with seven straight games this season, as she also had 14 rebounds in the win.
Kobie Miles totaled 12 points with one 3-pointer, two two-point baskets and she went a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.
Also for Hillsboro, Ella Jordan scored seven points (three two-point baskets, one free throw), Dinah Ames had eight points (two two-point baskets and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line), Kyra Boyd added six points (three two-point baskets) and Peighton Bledsoe finished with five points (one 3-pointer, one two-point basket).
Miami Trace was led in scoring by Ellie Robinette with 12 points and Gracie Lovett with 11 points.
HHS is now 4-0 in the FAC and 6-1 overall.
In JV play, the Lady Indians defeated MTHS, 29-20. HHS JV was led by Aubrey Barton with seven points. The remainder of the JV scoring for HHS included Taylor-Ann Scruggs (six), Piper Wilkin (five), Peyton Gobin (four), Kiera Boris (two) and Josie Roades (one).

Whiteoak wins at home over Ripley
The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats gained a home Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on Saturday night, defeating the Ripley Lady Blue Jays, 59-52.
WHS held the lead at the end of the first quarter by a 13-8 score, but RHS won the second frame at 14-8 for a halftime score of 22-21 in favor of the Lady Blue Jays.
Whiteoak came out of the locker room strong for the third quarter, outscoring Ripley 22-11 in the third, and it was Ripley winning the fourth frame at 19-16.
The Lady ’Cats were led in scoring by Jillian Lucas and Kylee Hamm, with each player scoring 14 points. Hamm totaled three 3-pointers, two two-point baskets and she was 1-of-1 from the free-throw line.
Lucas finished with two 3-pointers, two two-point baskets and she was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Finishing with 12 points was Addison Roberts with five two-point baskets and a 2-of-4 game from the free-throw line. Roberts collected a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Other final scoring totals for WHS were Torie Potts (nine), Addy Hauke (five) and Charli Hauke (five).
Team totals for WHS included 15 two-point baskets, seven 3-pointers and they were 8-of-12 from the free-throw line.
Ripley was led in scoring by Brooklyn Manning with 20 points and Raquel Hackney with 18 points.
WHS is now 4-1 in the SHAC and 4-1 overall.
