The McClain varsity boys wrestling team has been on a roll lately. They defeated Frontier Athletic Conference foe Chillicothe Thursday, Jan. 8, 42-20, and followed that up Saturday, Jan. 10 by winning the East Clinton duals meet.
The Hillsboro Indians won the rivalry varsity game with the McClain Tigers Friday, but Greenfield Rotary Club President and Greenfield Exempted Village Schools Superintendent Quincey Gray won the battle of the pie in the face.
The McClain varsity girls basketball team overcame a slow start, and behind the hot hand of junior point guard Paisley Pryor, who scored a game-high 25 points, they were able to defeat non-conference foe Clinton-Massie 42-46 in Greenfield Monday night.
The Miami Trace Panthers improved to 82 overall and 3-1 in the Frontier Athletic Conference after easily defeating McClain 63-32 Friday night in Greenfield.
Beginning the 2026 Chad Hodson Classic with a competitive game at Grandle Gymnasium, the McClain Tigers earned their third consecutive victory by defeating the Blanchester Wildcats, 49-48.
It was definitely a game of two halves Tuesday, Dec. 30 when the McClain Tigers hosted the Adena Warriors in a non-conference game in Greenfield before a packed house crowd, with McClain going on a 22-0 scoring run and taking its first lead of the game in the fourth to win 50-48.
