The Adams County Community Foundation recently announced the awarding of its 50th community grant, marking a significant milestone in its mission to support the nonprofits that strengthen the fabric of Adams County.

This landmark grant was awarded to Inter-Faith House, a volunteer-driven organization providing food and essential resources to area families in need.

Founded in the early 1980s by a coalition of local churches, Inter-Faith House has long been a cornerstone of compassion in the county, serving thousands of residents who face food insecurity and other basic needs.

“We are honored to support such a vital organization,” said Linda Stepp, president of the Adams County Community Foundation. “While many know us for awarding over 130 scholarships, an equally important part of our mission is to strengthen nonprofits that serve on the front lines of community care. Every grant we award reflects the generosity of our donors and the needs they care about most.”

Inter-Faith House is operated entirely by volunteers and overseen by a local board of directors. The organization acquires food thru the Free Store Food Bank of Cincinnati, along with regular donations from area churches, civic groups, restaurants, and individual residents.

“We’re deeply grateful for this support,” said Neal Kingery, executive director of Inter-Faith House. “We are an all-volunteer organization. Without the tireless efforts of our volunteers and the generosity of the community, there would be no Inter-Faith House.”

According to Adams County Community Foundation Vice President Paul Worley, this 50th grant also launches the Foundation’s “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” fall initiative, which focuses on three critical areas: helping at-risk children, feeding families in need, and supporting career pathways that lead to long-term employment and self-sufficiency.

“We thank the volunteers who keep Inter-Faith House running and the donors who make our grant-making possible,” added Stepp. “This milestone isn’t just a celebration of a number – it’s a tribute to the people who come together every day to care for their neighbors.”

Inter-Faith House is located at 5300 Chapparal Road, West Union, and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 a.m.-2:45 p.m.
