Some folks plan ahead. We don't, or perhaps you could say that we plan not to plan ahead, but more likely that's just how I like to think of it. Rather than gather up a winter's supply of firewood before the fall temperatures drop, we wait for that first cool day, and only then head out into the woods.

The Pentagon’s move to boost Patriot PAC-3 production from roughly 600 to 2,000 interceptors a year is a welcome start, but it is not enough. Even with this increase, the United States remains behind the curve. Washington and its partners must rapidly expand production and rebuild magazines of key munitions and interceptors, including proven Israeli systems.

As the 2026 midterm elections approach, state legislatures have grappled with fierce mid-decade redistricting efforts in an attempt to give an advantage to their political party. Based on current map projections, Republicans could flip three more seats than Democrats. Republicans currently have a slim majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Bengals QB Joe Burrow has been added to the AFC roster for the 2026 Pro Bowl Games. This marks the third career Pro Bowl selection for Burrow, who previously earned the honor for the 2022 and ’24 seasons.

Interstate 85 reopened late Saturday night after more than five hours with 100-plus vehicles stranded, and 15 inches of snow fell at the beach in one of North Carolina's most significant winter storms in a decade or more.
