Two die in Brown County blaze

Two people died in a house fire Monday night in Russellville. Several area firefighters were called to the scene on West North Street in the Brown County village.

Health Department offers free tobacco cessation classes
The Highland County Health Department is offering free tobacco cessation classes to Highland County residents. The classes are for individuals, ages 18 and over, who would like to quit using any type of tobacco product.
Tuscarawas County leads state in weekend deer-gun harvest numbers
Hunters killed 19,900 deer on December 19-20, during the weekend of gun hunting, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The extra weekend of gun hunting was first offered in 2006 in response to hunters' request for additional weekend days to pursue white-tailed deer, the state's number one big game animal. In 2008, hunters took 16,382 deer during those two days.
LC FFA Parliamentary Procedure team places first
On Dec. 1, the Lynchburg-Clay FFA Parliamentary Procedure team competed at the Sub-District competition at the Hillsboro High School. The team was awarded first place in the Highland County competition.
