Orr leaves sideline for MHS AD's office

After the conclusion of the 1970 football season, Coach Paul Orr of Greenfield McClain submitted his resignation as head football coach in order to concentrate on his position as director of athletics. He was replaced by Jay Knierim. Knierim hailed from Michigan. He had been head football coach at Marysville, Ohio for two or three years.

Last week in this article, I mentioned that the famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil recently saw his shadow which is supposed to indicate six more weeks of winter. However, that famous weather predictor failed to mention that it was going to be six weeks of crappy weather!

Fast start leads Lady Lions to sectional title
Coming out the gate with an 28-0 run in the opening half, the Fairfield Lady Lions cruised the remainder of the Division IV SE District Sectional Final, as they defeated the Franklin Furnance Green Lady Bobcats 55-33 Thursday night at Northwest High School for the sectional championship.
