U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., introduced the End Welfare for Non-Citizens Act to end taxpayer benefits for refugees, asylees and illegal immigrants earlier this week. In an impassioned plea on the Senate floor Friday afternoon, Paul argued that the U.S. shouldn’t be “the world’s sugar daddy.”

Democrats are using the threat of yet another government shutdown to force sweeping policy changes that would sharply curtail federal immigration enforcement. Some of their demands even contradict long-standing Democratic positions on federal supremacy in immigration. But Democrats have one goal in mind: Stop Trump from deporting illegal aliens.

An Ohio appeals court has rejected efforts to completely undo the state law that includes Ohio’s six-week abortion ban, but left untouched the ruling that struck down the ban itself following voter passage of a constitutional amendment protecting reproductive rights.
