          The eighth annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Southern State Community College, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The free event is sponsored by Students in Action, a volunteer community service group for students.

    On Oct. 1, Ashley Nichole Fryman enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program. She is a 2009 graduate of Fairfield Local High School. While in the Delayed Entry Program, Fryman will prepare herself for the mental and physical rigors of Marine Corps training.

       Join us for a Make a Blanket Day (MABD Saturday,  Oct. 24, at the Sardinia Church of Christ, 7130 Bachman Drive, Sardinia, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This will be the last workshop for 2009, but the project will resume again around February 2010.

  • Greenfield History Day Oct. 3
    The Greenfield Historical Society will hold its third annual History Day on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will be held at the society’s complex of historical buildings on the east side of Greenfield, near the state Route 28 bridge.
