A celebration of their 50-year anniversary was given by their children, Charles and Jonda Davidson, Deron and Joellen Cadwallader and Steele and Kristin Murray at the Cadwallader farm on July 30 with many family and friends present.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Mercy Hospitals, women in the Highland County area have the opportunity to receive a mammogram at no cost. On Friday, Sept. 2, Mercy Hospital's mobile unit will provide mammogram screenings at the Highland County Health Department for women ages 40 and older.
On Aug. 2, the neighborhood of Woodland Drive, Jan Lynn Lane, Newkirk Drive, Timber Lane, Hickory Hill Drive and Wildey Drive held a community meeting in hopes of starting a neighborhood watch program to help deter crime in their neighborhood.
The arts helping the arts – that’s the goal of the second annual Art Paint-Out auction to be held Saturday, Aug. 20, during the Lake Waynoka Art Festival slated for the weekend of Aug. 19-21. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with dinner and a wine reception preceding the auction.
Highland County has been recognizing women who have contributed significantly to community life for more than 30 years by recognizing them annually at the Women's Hall of Fame banquet. This year, the banquet will be held in the Atrium at SSCC on Tuesday evening, Aug. 30.
