September 18-24 has been designated Child Safety Seat Week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

A county-wide curfew will commence Saturday, Oct. 1 for all persons under the age of 18. The curfew will run through Oct. 31 and require all persons under the age of 18 to be off the streets and in their homes by 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday and midnight Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

September 17 begins the national celebration of Constitution Week. The weeklong commemoration of America’s most important document is one of our country’s least known official observances. A panel of scholars will discuss the profound impact of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks when Wilmington College presents “9/11: 10 Years Later” Monday (Sept. 12), at 7:30 p.m., in Hugh G. Heiland Theatre.

On Thursday, Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m., the Southern Ohio Genealogical Society will be conducting a demonstration program on the reading, cleaning and restoration of old tombstones. The program will be held at the Baptist Cemetery, New Market Township, Highland County.

The film project, “Ohio”, has been dreamed up by Cody Smith, a college student and the director/writer of the project. “Ohio” is an independent film that takes place in 1859, during a time period when the Midwest was the West.

Fifth Third Bank of Central Ohio will debut Fifth Third’s eBus II, its second mobile classroom on wheels, at the Highland County Fair on Sept. 8 from 2-8 p.m. and on Sept. 9 from noon to 4 p.m. at 604 John Street.
