The Highland County Democratic Party will hold its annual picnic Sunday, Aug. 7 from 4-7 p.m. at the Amvets Park on North Shore Drive.

Back by popular demand, the speaker will be former first lady of Ohio Frances Strickland.

There will also be representatives present to discuss Senate Bill 5.

"All who are discouraged with the way things are going in the state of Ohio are urged to come and take an active part in changing the way Ohio is headed," said the Democratic Party committee.

The picnic is free to the public with a freewill donation accepted.

The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and desserts. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening for both children and adults.

"We urge you to come and be involved in the Democratic Party if you don't want the rich getting richer with all the loopholes they've been getting; the middle class being virtually eliminated; and the devastating cuts in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid that the Republicans are advocating," Democratic Party chairperson Dinah Phillips said.[[In-content Ad]]
