The season has started with two big wins for the Hillsboro Lady Indians volleyball team, as they won the 19th annual Highland County Spike & Dig Tournament championship on Saturday at Hillsboro High School.

The Festival of the Bells 5k is a longstanding tradition that has offered a variety of courses over the years. This year’s event took place on Saturday, July 6.

State Senator Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro) honored Landen Eyre, an upcoming senior at Whiteoak High School, for winning the Division III State Championship in the 3200-meter run.

Highland County brought in more baseball honors this week from the 2024 spring season, as eight players from Lynchburg-Clay, Fairfield and Whiteoak were selected to the Prep Baseball All-Ohio teams for Division III and Division IV.

In my previous column celebrating everything that was of excellence for Highland County athletics from the 2023-24 season. This week, I wanted to take one final look at this past school year’s sports calendar before starting to get notes and information compiled for the upcoming fall sports seasons, as it does take some time to get organized for football previews and have information available for other fall sports team previews.
