On a rare April spring day where the rain finally stayed away, a rivalry was renewed Saturday afternoon as pitchers battled strong, unique rulings were made, and the Fairfield Lions made the clutch hits when needed against the Whiteoak Wildcats to gain the 2-0 Southern Hills Athletic Conference win.

Wednesday night saw the Whiteoak Wildcats and Green Bobcats play baseball the way it was intended, according to WHS head coach Chris Veidt. 

A non-conference game between the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats and the East Clinton Lady Astros on Tuesday (April 9) saw WHS earn a road win in Clinton County, with WHS defeating East Clinton, 3-0 for the shutout win. 

The Whiteoak Wildcats were winners in consecutive days in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference games on Friday and Saturday afternoons, defeating West Union with a combined no-hitter on Friday, followed by a Saturday win over the Ripley Blue Jays. 

Whiteoak Wildcats senior Weston Blair has signed his letter of intent to attend Morehead State University to further his academics and athletics in cross-country and track and field.

Whiteoak Wildcats senior Dakota Clift has signed his letter of intent to attend Adrian College in Adrian, Mich. to further his academics and athletics in college baseball.

This past Friday and Saturday for the Hillsboro Lady Indians softball team saw them win three games in two days, as they won a Frontier Athletic Conference game on Friday evening, followed by winning a doubleheader against the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats on Saturday. 

This past Thursday (April 4) at Southeastern High School, the McClain and Whiteoak track and field teams competed at the RL Davisson Invitational, where the Lady Tigers won the event with a first-place finish of 161 points. 

Saturday was an excellent day of baseball for the Whiteoak Wildcats, as they hosted the annual Deb’s Wooden Bat Classic, and the four-team tournament saw WHS finish as the winners by defeating Trimble and Rock Hill.

In a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game that came down to a one-run differential, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost to the host North Adams Lady Green Devils, 7-6 on Friday (March 29). 

Friday night (March 29), the Whiteoak Wildcats took home a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win as they defeated the North Adams Green Devils, 4-3 in a makeup game from Thursday night. 

Nick Martini belted two home runs and Cincinnati starter Frankie Montas pitched six scoreless innings to lead the Reds to an 8-2 Opening Day win over Washington Thursday before a sellout crowd of 44,030 at Great American Ball Park.
