Thursday and Friday saw Highland County well represented at the 2024 OHSAA Division II and Division III State Track and Field Championships, held at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.

The 2024 spring baseball and softball seasons were full of great success for Highland County teams, and to cap off the end-of-season honors, five athletes from the county were selected to their respective baseball and softball All-Ohio teams by the coaches from the state.

The 2024 All-Southeast District baseball teams have been selected by coaches of the district, with 19 baseball players, along with one coach, honored this spring.

The 2024 Southeast District Softball Coaches have released their All-District teams for the spring 2024 season, with 17 Highland County athletes honored.

Landen Eyre has become Whiteoak High School's first state champion.

Two sets of brothers are set to represent Whiteoak High School this week at the Division III OHSAA State Track and Field Championships, as the Eyre and Blair brothers have qualified for a combined four events at the highest level to compete in high school competition in Ohio.

The Whiteoak Wildcats track kids added to their accolades on Wednesday and Friday at Heath High School in the Division III Regional Track Meet, qualifying for the state tournament in four events: the 4x800 relay and the 800-meter, 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs.

The 116th Annual Boys and 49th Annual Girls Ohio High School Athletic Association Track and Field State Tournament begins Thursday afternoon at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.

A total of 13 Highland County athletes have punched their tickets for the 2024 OHSAA Track & Field State Tournament after their qualifying finishes at the Div. II and Div. III regional meets.

Mother's Day may have officially been on May 12 of this year, but for two Whiteoak Wildcat moms, it just keeps on coming. 

Highland County track and field athletes excelled at the Division III Southeast District meet held May 15 and 17 at Nelsonville-York. The meet saw the Fairfield Lady Lions team earn a district runner-up trophy, while Highland County athletes also won district titles and broke records along the way.

Wednesday saw the No. 2 seeded Whiteoak Wildcats fall in the sectional finals of the Division IV SE District tournament by a 3-1 score in 10 innings at Hillsboro High School.
