A Peebles woman was sentenced recently to community control, with a local jail sentence, after pleading guilty to an endangering children charge in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

As previously reported, Olivia G. Yost, 35, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in October and was charged with two counts of endangering children, both fourth-degree felonies.

According to court records, Yost pleaded guilty in November to one count, with the other one dismissed.

For that charge, the indictment alleged that during a little over a monthlong period in 2025, Yost “recklessly … created a substantial risk to the health or safety of [the child] by violating a duty of care, protection or support.”

During a sentencing hearing Jan. 31, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Yost to three years of community control and ordered her to serve 30 days in the Highland County Jail. She was also ordered to comply with recommended mental health treatment.
